Thursday’s action: Go low at Beverley, Ryan Moore has one ride and an 11/1 tip

The Perth Festival continues on Thursday but that’s not the only action on offer, as there are five meetings in total across Britain and Ireland. We’ve picked out some of the day’s interesting angles, including a couple of well drawn runners at Beverley, Ryan Moore’s one ride at Southwell and Paul Nicholls sending two horses on an 868-mile round trip to Perth. Go low at Beverley

Beverley has a pronounced draw bias, especially in 5f races, and it’s often wise to side with horses who are drawn low. We’ve got you covered with a couple of horses to follow at the Yorkshire track.

Ventura Express has already had a couple of runs on the all-weather this season and the nine-year-old has the ideal draw in stall one. Paul Midgley’s runner has an excellent course record at Beverley, with two wins and a second in three starts, which definitely bodes well.

Priapos was progressing nicely at the back end of his three-year-old campaign and there could be more to come from him at four. If the son of Zoustar can pick up where he left off, another big run could be on the cards and there will be no excuses from stall two.

Ryan Moore heads to Southwell for one ride?

This could be a tip in itself as it’s very notable that the world’s best Flat jockey heads to Southwell for an evening meeting with just one ride. The horse in question is the John & Thady Gosden-trained Yazin. He was impressive under a penalty at Newmarket in October and has a significant amount of potential.

Paul Nicholls sends two to Perth

Perth is a fair distance away from Nicholls’ Somerset yard so it could be significant that he sends two runners on the 868-mile round trip on Thursday. A King Of Magic progressed well in novice company and the switch to handicaps is likely to suit the five-year-old.

Toothless was a smooth winner over fences at Windsor in January and should be in the mix once again, having finished second on his last two starts.

Outsider of the day

Canavan (11/1, bet365) failed to win in six starts on the Flat but he wasn’t disgraced when sixth in a Musselburgh juvenile event on New Years’ Day. The penny will drop sooner rather than later and Lucinda Russell is always dangerous at this meeting.
