It’s a fairly quiet Sunday by usual standards, with just two British meetings taking place and none in Ireland. We’ve picked out three runners from Pontefract and Uttoxeter that have to make substantial journeys to get to their respective tracks on Sunday. Connections won’t want to come home empty-handed, especially with costs on the rise. When combined, these three runners form a tantalising 741-1 treble. Mabre (9-2, bet365) is one of three sent up to Pontefract from Evans’ base in Monmouthshire and appears to have the best chance. He was only just denied in a 0-80 over an extended 7f at Chester last time and the handicapper responded with a 1lb rise. The return to a mile will definitely suit and there’s every chance he can go one better in a lower grade here.
Don’t Look Back (8-1, bet365) is set to be sent on a 517-mile round trip from Lucinda Russell’s base in Scotland. This horse was an impressive winner over this trip in heavy ground at Doncaster back in April and the third boosted the form by winning next time. He was beaten by a narrow margin when second off a 1lb higher mark over 1m3f at Hamilton in May and has been a bit below-par in two starts since. There’s a good chance he’ll be competitive off this mark and a big run could be on the cards.
Saddlers Quest (14-1, bet365) runs in the finale for Deborah Hamer and it’s a substantial 396-mile round trip from her Carmarthenshire base to Uttoxeter. Hamer’s last runner at the track was a winner on Friday and she’ll be hoping for more glory. This nine-year-old mare ran a solid race when third at Warwick last time out, her first start after a break. If improving for the run here, she should be there or thereabouts, racing off the same mark.
