Royal Ascot really is an international affair and it attracts runners from all over the world. There’s often plenty of American interest, especially in the juvenile races, and that’s the case once again on Day 2. Both the Queen Mary and the Windsor Castle take place on Wednesday and there’s US representation in both.
Crimson Advocate won the Queen Mary for George Weaver in 2023 so the trainer has previous here. Patrick Biancone is looking for a first winner at the meeting so we’ve combined both their runners into a double. Check out our free tips page as we will provide selections for every Royal Ascot race this week.
Lennilu (13/2, boylesports) is unbeaten in two starts so far and is right near the head of the market in this race. She started off at Keeneland in a maiden special weight over an extended 4f and ran on well to score by a length.
It was an even better display when upped to 5f at Gulfstream Park last month and she made smooth headway to lead with two furlongs to go. Kicking clear easily in the final stages, the filly went on to score by just shy of four lengths. There could be more to come and she clearly stays the trip well.
Tough Critic (16/1, boylesports) represents George Weaver and the son of Caravaggio won nicely over an extended 5f on debut at Keeneland. Obviously Weaver’s colt will need to step forward significantly on that form but he’s entitled to do so.
The trainer knows what it takes to win here and bringing him over for a day out would be costly. Flavien Prat comes over for the ride and connections will be hoping for a big run in this Listed contest.
