Steamer alert: Donnacha O’Brien horse backed from 25-1 into 9-1 at the Curragh 🐎

Fancy Blue

Our resident horse racing man Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place in the 1.40pm at the Curragh today.

Don’t miss out on our posts on Twitter @myracingtips where you can message us directly and have your say. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in terrific form this month. Let’s take a closer look at this big gamble in more detail below.

1.40 Curragh

The opening race on the card at the Curragh today is a competitive maiden and the horse that has seen the most money in the race is the Donnacha O’Brien trained Calling All Angels. Backed from a high of 25-1 into top price 9-1 this morning, someone out there is expecting big improvement from this horse.

Calling All Angels is a well bred daughter of Dark Angel and cost €90,000 as a yearling. Sent off a 40-1 shot on debut here at the Curragh over 7f, she did her best work at the finish when only beaten five lengths into eighth of 18 runners in June. Running over the same course and distance, she should know her job today with the cobwebs blown away.

Donnacha O’Brien has done OK as a trainer this season truth be told. In 2021, he had a 10 per cent return and so far this year he is also operating at 10 per cent. He only has a 5 per cent strike rate at the Curragh which is poor but it would be silly to ignore the money for this horse today and she should run well.
