The Edward Lynam-trained Romantic Proposal (16-1, Betfair) is already a winner at the top level. This very talented mare won the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh last September. She made a winning start to this campaign in the Listed Woodlands Stakes over 5f at Naas in April.

Lynam suggested the mare would improve substantially for that run and she’s entitled to do so. It could prove beneficial that she’s been unraced since as many of her rivals ran at Royal Ascot three weeks ago. Fresher legs could prove to be an advantage on day.

A slight negative would be that she’s unraced on ground as quick as the current good to firm conditions. Despite this, her record on good ground is very good which offers hope that quicker conditions won’t be an issue. 6f isn’t a problem for this mare who is aging like a fine wine and there could well be more to come. Romantic Proposal has gone under the radar here and looks like a forgotten horse.
