‘She doesn’t waste ammunition’ – 40/1, 33/1 and 20/1 ITV Outsiders on Friday

Chester Case

It’s been a busy week for the ITV cameras so far and they will be in use again on Friday. Six races will be televised from Chester and Ascot, including the big race of the day, the Chester Cup. We’re back with our usual feast of outsiders that may have been unfairly overlooked in the betting. These include a well drawn 33/1 shot in the main event and a 40/1 horse in Chester’s opener. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.30 Chester

Tarkhan (40/1, bet365) is set to make his debut for Jamie Osborne and a mark of 107 doesn’t look outrageous when considering his best form. He won a Listed contest at Munich in October and followed that up with a reasonable third in an Italian Group 2. Clearly he’s an unknown quantity but you wouldn’t want to rule out big run and he could be worth giving a go at these odds.

1.50 Ascot

Victory Sound (20/1, betfred) won a 7f maiden at Haydock as a two-year-old but struggled behind Field Of Gold in Group 3 company after that. Last seen finishing second under a penalty in a Kempton novice, he makes his handicap debut here and a mark of 86 doesn’t look too unreasonable. It’s likely that there’s more to come and this is a good opportunity to show it.

3.05 Chester

Morning Air (33/1, bet365) is trained by Venetia Williams and she doesn’t waste ammunition, especially in this sphere. Williams has won the consolation race twice in recent years and therefore knows what it takes to win over this course and distance. The four-year-old filly was a winner over hurdles in December and produced some more than reasonable form on the Flat in France.
