Saturday ITV Outsiders: ‘I’ve snapped up the 40-1 as I don’t think it will last’ ⏳ 🐎

Nigel Twiston-Davies Stable Tour

We have another stellar weekend of action to look forward to as Cheltenham host their final meeting before the festival in March. That is not all that we have to look forward to though as the big race of the day is the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster.

Adrian Wall has gone through the ITV Racing cards on Saturday and has come up with his Outsider tips. One of them is a 40-1 shot in the Sky Bet Chase and in his opinion is far too big a price to ignore.

1.55 Cheltenham

Spiritofthegames enjoys himself at Cheltenham so the return to this track will be a big plus for the Dan Skelton-trained runner. He finished fifth in the 2018 County Hurdle at the festival, third in the Brown Advisory in 2019, second in the Paddy Power Gold Cup in 2019 and sixth in the 2020 Brown Advisory.

He finds winning difficult these days but he had plenty in the tank with only beaten seven lengths in ninth in the Paddy Power Gold Cup in November. Now running off a dangerous mark, Jack Andrews takes off a further 5lb and don’t be surprised to see him go close.

3.20 Doncaster

Nigel Twiston-Davies won the Sky Bet Chase in 2018 so knows what it takes. How Rocco is 40-1 for the race is beyond me and I’ve snapped up the 40-1 as I don’t think it will last. The nine-year-old had excuses last time at Cheltenham where he made an awful mistake which cost him all chance in the race. Up to that point, he was up with the pace going well.

Rocco is a dour stayer and will love this sort of test. He won the Listed Badger Beer Chase at Wincanton in November and had some of his rivals behind that day, Cap Du Nord and Hurricane Harvey. I just don’t see how he can be such a big price from a nice mark.
