Owen’s Outsiders: Beat the Monday blues with 33-1 and 25-1 tips

It’s another busy start to the week, as Southwell, Lingfield, Pontefract, Windsor and Musselburgh all host action. It’s going to be an interesting days racing, especially as rain is expected at Southwell, Windsor and Pontefract.

We’ll have horse racing tips for all five meetings, but it’s time for some big-priced selections! My outsiders return and I’m hoping to beat the Monday blue with some winners at huge prices. I’ve found three who can out-run their lucrative odds and all the analysis can be found below!

5.30 Windsor – Get Hugh Taylor’s Tips On attheraces.com Fillies’ Handicap

Windsor are expecting a deluge overnight and into Monday, with thunderstorms on the horizon. You’d hope the meeting can still go ahead, and if it does, you’ll need a horse who relishes a real slog in deep ground. BORN TO PLEASE (25-1) fits that bill perfectly for Mark Usher.

All four five her turf victories (including one over hurdles) have come with soft in the description, including a pair of heavy ground successes. She’ll relish the water getting into the surface and that could be the catalyst for her to turn around her fortunes.

She’s been disappointing in 2021 thus far, but both her flat starts have come at Sandown in competitive races. Usher has his string in good form at present and she’s fallen back down to an achievable rating at this stage of her career. Back up to 1m 3f too, she can show up well under Ryan Tate.

7.15 Musselburgh – Every Race Live On RacingTV Handicap

He’s certainly aptly named, but OWEN’S LAD (33-1) is a very interesting contender for Kevin Frost in this contest. He ran to a modest level as a juvenile, but didn’t shape without promise, and the same comments apply to his seasonal debut at Chelmsford last time.

Racing over the seven-furlong distance, he was never travelling, and only started to make ground in the straight. On that evidence, a step up to the mile distance is just what the doctor ordered, as is the fitting of the cheekpieces.

That headgear should help him travel better through the race and if he’s closer to the leaders turning for home, he’s unlikely to be far away at the finish off this basement rating under Connor Beasley.
