Irish racing gets the go-ahead to resume

We have four meetings to look forward to on Sunday, with the Curragh, Bath, Chelmsford and Wolverhampton all hosting action. The Curragh is the feature meeting, hosting the Irish St Leger!

We’ll have horse racing tips for all the action! If you’re looking for some adventurous prices, I’ve gone hunting for some big catches and can present to you Sunday’s Outsiders!

2.00 Curragh – Not Now Zeb (25/1)

Irish Stallion Farms EBF “Bold Lad” Sprint Handicap (Premier Handicap)

Winning at both Navan and then over five furlongs at this venue, Not Now Zeb was luckless at Naas last time. Stepped up to six furlongs for only the fifth time, he never really had a clear passage until it was all over.

He remains unexposed over this distance and he’s dropped two pounds in the ratings. He’s been highly progressive of late and Thomas Mullins is unlikely to be near the bottom of him just yet. Conditions are in his favour and Joe Doyle takes over the ride.

He should relish the strong pace set in this contest and with a bit of luck, he’ll be flying home best of all late on.

3.10 Curragh – Kurious (33/1)

Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes (Group 1)

It’s still very early days for Kurious, who has raced just the nine times and has only been seen twice in 2020. Both those runs have come at Group 1 level, where she was far from disgraced behind Battaash in the King’s Stand and the Nunthorpe.

2019 was a successful campaign for this progressive filly. She took both Listed and Group 3 honours at Sandown, with that tracking providing her with all three of her wins thus far.

You wouldn’t be wrong to suggest she has it to prove elsewhere, but her recent fifth in the Nunthorpe was better than the bare result. This is another tough task, but she has the ability to play a big hand. There may be further improvement under the hood and perhaps more crucially, there is no Battaash!

5.50 Curragh – Colfer Me (50/1)

Irish Stallion Farms EBF “Northfields” Handicap (Premier Handicap)

He’s far from consistent, but Colfer Me has some strong form in the book and sits on a competitive rating. Going very close in a big-field event at the Curragh in June off two pounds lower, he did all his best work late from a difficult position over the mile.

He was never able to challenge on heavy ground at Killarney last time, with nothing getting involved from the rear-division. He returns to handicaps off an attractive rating and on paper, he should be well-suited by the return to the ten-furlong distance.

Conditions are ideal and this tactically versatile four-year-old warrants respect at a big price.
