Matt’s monster 701-1 ITV each way double for Newbury on Sunday

Kalashnikov wins the 2018 Betfair Hurdle

There are three cards live on ITV Racing on Sunday. It’s the Betfair Game Spirit Chase meeting at Newbury with excellent support from both Market Rasen and Navan. There is also a card at Uttoxeter which will feature as part of our free horse racing tips for Sunday.

While the graded races will be the focus of most attention, it’s the big field handicaps that always hold most appeal for me. Huge prices and extra places to aim at is a great challenge and you can back the below each way double at 701-1 with William Hill who are the biggest price at time of writing.

1.50 Newbury – Betfair Weighed-In Podcast Weekly Handicap Hurdle

Newbury tends to bring out the best in Dell’ Arca, a winner over course and distance from four pounds lower earlier in the campaign. The race was not run to suit when last here and that can be easily excused. There is more in the way of pace on here which is going to set things up far better for him, with the drying ground a help to him.

He has form of 22511315 in his eight runs at Newbury so with five places with six placed to chase with Hills, he is a big each way player with the David Pipe yard in red hot form.

3.35 Newbury – Betfair Hurdle

Having failed to make it as a hurdler, Highway One O Two came back to hurdles at Sandown last time. A bold front runner at his best in novice company last season, he was held up at Sandown so it not a surprise that he failed to run his race. This will be a tough field to dominate from the front but this mark of 141 would be workable on his best.

Chris Gordon had Remiluc place at 66/1 in this race last season having finished fifth in 2018. His only other runner in this race in the last decade was Lightentertainment who was only four lengths off the places in tenth in 2015 so it’s not a race that the yard throw a lot of runners at. As such, their runner in 2021 deserves plenty of respect at 50/1.
