Matt’s ITV Outsiders: 33-1, 16-1 & 14-1 selections for the Sunday action 🚨

Honeysuckle

It was tough sledding on the ITV Racing on Saturday afternoon but we’re back for Sunday. Another full slate of racing on the channel from Leopardstown and Musselburgh with another three opportunities to unearth those who looks too big in the market.

1.20 Leopardstown – Ladbrokes Novice Chase

This is a quality field but the fourth in the Stayers Hurdle at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival from Beacon Edge (14/1) is the strongest piece of form on offer over the smaller obstacles. He has taken to chasing well this season, landing the Grade 1 Drinmore in late November. He is going to need more if Galopin Des Champs is as good as he suggests he will be but equally the Noel Meade-trained eight-year-old doesn’t deserve to be this price.

2.25 Leopardstown – Bulmers Secret Orchid Leopardstown Handicap Chase

He’s an eleven-year-old now but Winter Escape (33/1) rarely runs a bad race. He’s been placed in three of his last four starts in similar type handicaps to this, doing his best work late in the day over a shorter trip here at Christmas. Clearly not the force of old but he has come good at this time of year a couple of times in the past and is worth taking a chance on at a big price.

3.35 Leopardstown – Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle

It will be a good test of the Irish versus the U.K form here with Colonel Mustard (16/1) returning to his home country having chased home Jonbon at Ascot before Christmas. A second season novice, he was Grade 1 placed in the spring at Punchestown, notching an RPR of 141. He produced 139 last time out, those right up there with the best form in the field.
