Joe Casey’s 166-1 good to soft ground each-way double for Saturday

Caspian Prince wins the Scottish Sprint Cup

With jump racing winding down, and the flat starting to get going, the ground can be key when trying to dissect races at this time of year for our free horse racing tips. In light of this, I have picked out two horses at big odds that will love the ground and could outrun their prices. They run at Musselburgh and Fairyhouse but the ITV Racing cameras are also at Haydock. Cork, Newton Abbot, Carlisle and Wolverhampton add to the racing on an action-packed Saturday.

Unfortunately one of Joe’s original selections, The Grand Visir, is now a non runner. Our tipsters have filled in to add to Joe’s tip to still form an each way double

1.50 Musselburgh – Betway Musselburgh Silver Arrow Handicap

The prevailing going is good to soft at Musselburgh, ground that suits Three Saints Bay perfectly. Six runs on the going in his life have generated three wins, a second and a fourth. He also enjoys his racing at this track, absolutely skating up in this race in 2019.

A speed track that does lend itself to specialists, having a horse who now only loves the ground but also the track looks a big plus, especially at an each way price.

If you back any of our selections you can watch them live on the free Racing Post app or racingpost.com. Simply log in to one of your bookmaker accounts and click ‘Watch live’ on the racecards.

4.05 Fairyhouse – RYBO Handicap Hurdle

In a competitive handicap in Ireland, one that will definitely enjoy the ground is Desmond McDonogh’s Hearts Are Trumps. He has struggled this year on ground that has been too heavy for him but will relish the return to a sounder surface.

In his five starts running on Yielding ground, the description at Fairyhouse, he has never been out of the frame, winning one. He was second at a huge price in the Galway Hurdle on Yielding ground last July, beaten just two lengths by Willie Mullins’ Aramon.

His experience of big field handicaps will be useful here and he certainly has the ability to figure in this, particularly with his very strong record on the ground.
