Jockey with 60% chase strike rate at Fakenham rides 1 on Sunday 🏇

Razzle Dazzle 'Em leads the field in the 2m novice hurdle at Fakenham, 19/2/16

In the last five seasons, Tom Cannon has ridden in just five chases at Fakenham. He has picked up three winners from those five, 6/18 in his entire career over fences here. A further six have finished second or third, with his sole ride over fences on Sunday an each way price. Cannon is having the best season of his career so this runner in particular has to be respected.

Fakenham is one of three cards on Sunday, Kempton and Thurles also in action to complete our horse racing tips.

2.50 Fakenham – Paddocks Cheveley Phase 2 Chase Handicap Chase

It’s fair to say that The Unit is not the force of old. He is without a win since August 2018 but as recently as February he was placed from a mark thirteen pounds higher than this. Until making a mistake two from home, he had shaped well on his return to action at Kempton, just fading late in the piece.

He is entitled to come on for that run, dropped four pounds off the back of that and into a race with a ten-pound lower ceiling. That certainly has the potential to make this a much easier task for him. Just a couple of weeks shy of his eleventh birthday, he needs that helping hand from the handicapper.

Three of his last four wins have come on a sharp track so Fakenham should be no issue for him. As well as the record from Tom Cannon on chasers at this track, his trainer Alan King boasts smart figures as well. 8/24 at this track overall in the last five seasons for a level stakes profit of +£15.40, that further adds to the intrigue.
