ITV Racing Outsiders: Adrian bids to follow up last week’s 12-1 winner & 25-1 place 👏

Value At Risk wins at Ayr

With the Aintree Grand National only a week away now, the excitement is starting to build. What could be better to whet the appetite than the Scottish Grand National which will be run at Ayr Racecourse on Saturday. Adrian Wall is back with his ITV Outsiders this week and they could be worth following as he had a 12-1 winner and 25-1 third last weekend.

Make sure you check out our ITV Racing tips which will be updated on the website from about 5pm on Friday evening.

1.15 Ayr

Return Ticket (12-1) is one win from two starts at Ayr which came in a maiden hurdle around here in 2018. He has some good form in the book, beating Heartbreak Kid by 40 lengths at Sedgefield last March, a horse who has since gone on to win twice since. Despite the ground being like concrete, he also won a handicap chase at Wetherby off 136 back in October. He has a good record fresh and it would be no shock to see him run a big race.

1.35 Newbury

Sam Waley-Cohen has a remarkable record over the Aintree National fences so will be prepping for that aboard Icone D’Aubrelle here but the horse of interest at a price to me is Sam Thomas’s Mot A Mot (10-1). He looked like a horse with a good future when scoring over 2m at Worcester back in November, needing every yard of the trip. Not so good in two starts since, he has had a short break and has had a wind operation so a mark of 114 could underestimate his chances on his first start for his new yard.

2.45 Newbury

Tweed Skirt (20-1) disappointed in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham last month but her sights are somewhat lowered here and she is not to be discounted for a powerful yard. An impressive bumper winner at Wetherby last year, she finished three lengths off the reopposing Speech Bubble when third in a Listed bumper at Sandown last March. She had to give that horse 6lb on the day but will receive 12lb from that mare in this content, a massive 18lb swing in the weights. Considering Speech Bubble is a 3-1 shot at the time of writing this article, Nicky Henderson’s mare looks a huge price.
