Day 2 of the Newmarket July Festival kicks off on Friday and four races are joined by two from York live on ITV. This means we’re back with three more outsiders who are capable of outrunning their massive odds. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Schmilsson (16-1, Paddy Power) ran a good race at Ascot last time before fading in the final furlong. The drop back to 1m2f should suit as his maiden win came over this trip. That form has been boosted with the third winning since and the second running well enough at Ascot. With the handicapper dropping him 2lb for his latest effort, he can put in a better performance here.
Guilded (20-1, Paddy Power) won a Listed race over 5f at Ayr when last seen. She hasn’t tried 6f since finishing fourth in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket last season. Hopefully she’s a stronger filly now and will be able to cope with the step up in trip. As a three-year-old, she gets a 6lb allowance which can only help her chances. 20-1 looks a massive price for a filly that already has black type.
Dubai Welcome (16-1, Paddy Power) is a very lightly raced five-year-old who could be unexposed. His run at Kempton suggested that the step up to 1m6f will suit as he was keeping on at the finish. He has the profile of a horse that has a big prize in him and this could be it. It’s doubtful we’ve seen the best of him yet and this is a good opportunity to prove himself.
