In-form trainer sends one runner on a 700-mile round trip to Musselburgh

Musselburgh Racecourse

Kevin Philippart De Foy has made an immediate impact upon joining the training ranks. He has sent out sixteen winners from eighty-five runners so far in 2021, a smart 19% clip with another twenty-two placed horses. The yard have been in flying form of late. Seven runners in the last fortnight have produced form of 2132312.

It is a seven hundred mile round trip from his base in Newmarket up to Musselburgh, this his first runner at the Scottish track. The opening meeting of Sky Bet sponsored ‘Sunday Series’ sees all seven races from the card live on ITV Racing. There are also meetings at Pontefract and Uttoxeter to round out Sunday’s horse racing tips.

Hint Of Stars has been in excellent form this season. The winner of three of his four starts to go along with a win at the back end of last December, his sole poor run came on a softer surface at York. That is not a track to the taste of all horses and it’s easy enough to take that with a pinch of salt, especially as he was quickly back to winning ways last time out.

That saw Joe Fanning take the ride on him for the first time, with Fanning in the plate once more here. He has a huge wealth of experience around Musselburgh which can stand his ride in good stead. This is a new trip, trying fourteen furlongs for the first time which is another added point of interest.

He is eight pounds higher than when winning at Yarmouth last time but the visual impression that he made in that five-length success was that he can take that in his stride. There is a chance that he can improve further for the step up in trip as well for all that he won’t be able to get anything like as easy a lead on this occasion.
