2018 saw Godolphin, Charlie Appleby and William Buick win the Craven with Masar. They look set to add to that in 2021 but with a rather more speedy type than that future Derby winner. We will have ITV Tips for the cards at Newmarket and Cheltenham tomorrow as well as selections at the supporting cards at Ripon, Limerick and Newcastle.
The horse in question is a 20/1 chance for the 2,000 Guineas at time of writing, that best price available at bet365 where new customers can get up to £100 in bet credits. A win on Thursday and that price will be a thing of the past with his jockey William Buick getting off last time and telling the trainer Charlie Appleby that the horse would come on a bundle.
Master Of The Seas is the horse in question and will be looking to get his season back on track here having been a shade disappointing in Dubai. Too keen in the early stages there, he gave himself little chance of seeing his race out. No surprise to see connections reach for a hood to keep his natural exuberance under control on this occasion.
The winner of that race did the form no harm when runner-up in the Free Handicap on Wednesday, just run down late on by one who was a Group 2 winner in the past, just outdoing him for a turn of pace on a drop back to seven furlongs from a mile.
He was only beaten two lengths when fourth in the Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the Curragh last September. That Group 1 form is the best on offer at this Group 3 level and with William Buick adamant that he would come on plenty for that run, he is the one they all have to beat.
