Gordon Elliott heads to Sedgefield on Tuesday armed with two strong chances

Gordon Elliott

Tuesday’s racing comes from five venues, with jumps meetings from Worcester and Sedgefield. There’s also flat action, with Ayr and Cork joined by Wolverhampton in the evening. We’ll have horse racing tips for all the action, including a NAP of the Day and Lucky 15 tips.

Gordon Elliott is well known for his raids on British venues and another occurs on Tuesday. He sends a pair of well-fancied runners to Sedgefield, a venue he’s excelled at in recent years. In the last five seasons, he’s sent 23 runners there, with eight of them returning to the winner’s enclosure. Find out all the details about his Tuesday runners below.

2.00 Sedgefield – Cazoo Juvenile Maiden Hurdle

The opener is a two-mile juvenile hurdle and Elliott is represented by Alice Kitty, who was previously trained by Jessie Harrington on the flat. She ran to a fair standard on the level, rated 76 at her peak and staying ten furlongs, which always bodes well for a later career over timber.

Things haven’t quite gone to plan over hurdles, however, starcoming to grief in her opening two ts at Roscommon and Killarney. Most recently, some poor jumping once again cost her at Down Royal, where she travelled well for a long way before struggling to get involved.

This is the easiest task she’s faced thus far and she remains with potential for this sphere. She’ll be ridden by the in-form Sean Bowen and she has an obvious chance.

2.35 Sedgefield – carpetgallop.co.uk 01785719991 Novices’ Hurdle

The stronger of his two chances, Mr Caplan has standout claims in the second race of the afternoon. He got off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt, winning at Wexford in gutsy fashion. The second from that race turned the tables on him at Tramore last time, but an RPR of 127 shows just how strong the performance was.

On ratings, he’s six pounds clear of this field and he meets his main rivals on equal terms. That clearly makes him the one to beat and with further improvement more than likely, he’ll be the NAP of many at Sedgefield’s Tuesday meeting.
