‘Everybody is very happy’ – Aidan O’Brien confident with 7-1 Ascot Gold Cup hope 🏆

Aidan O’Brien has won the Ascot Gold Cup nine times and he certainly knows what it takes to win the race. The master of Ballydoyle sounds particularly confident this year, with regards to the chances of his four-year-old filly Emily Dickinson. He believes she has all the necessary attributes to gain him his tenth win in the race. Despite a below-par effort last time out, O’Brien is expecting much more at Royal Ascot in two weeks time. ‘Everything has gone real well’

Emily Dickinson is available at 7-1 with one bookmaker for the big race at Royal Ascot. O’Brien isn’t too disheartened by her poor run at Leopardstown last time out and fully expects the unique test to suit her. He said: “Emily is in good form and everything has gone real well with her since Leopardstown. There was no pace in that race and she was left in front, which wasn’t ideal at all. We didn’t want her to have a hard race by forcing her along so it just didn’t happen for her. It was one of those things. She came out of the race great, which was the main thing.”

‘We’re excited to see what she might do’

It’s highly promising that she was so impressive on her sole start at two miles. The daughter of Dubawi certainly left the impression that the extra furlongs won’t be an issue. Her trainer added: “She loves a nice even pace. That’s why she needs an even tempo the whole way where it doesn’t turn into a sprint. We think she stays very well and we’re excited to see what she might be able to do in a Gold Cup over a trip like that. She’s on track for the race and everybody is very happy with her.”
