Plumpton may not the be feature meeting on Easter Sunday but the Sussex Champion Hurdle card is fascinating. It’s a bumper day on our free horse racing tips with Southwell, Market Rasen, Hereford, Fairyhouse and Cork also in action during the afternoon.
Paul Nicholls is the man to follow at Plumpton. He has sent 16 horses to the track to run in hurdle races over the last five years, producing 11 winners for a level stakes profit of £20.32. Two runners head to Plumpton on Sunday, including our NAP of the day.
2.26 Plumpton – Triple A Event Security Maiden Hurdle
A hurdling debut for Zoran who was a fair type on the flat. A winner at Newmarket from a mark of 78 back in September, he could be a decent recruit to obstacles. Gelded since last in action, that might help him as he looked to need things to go his way on the level.
He liked to bowl along in front which looks a good place to be around this track on decent ground in a maiden affair with most of these inexperienced over obstacles. Good ground suits him well and given his dam is a sister to Derby winner Australia, he will have been bred with bigger things in mind than a Plumpton maiden hurdle.

3.26 Plumpton – Sussex Champion Hurdle
The Nicholls yard has won this twice in 2015 and 2017 and look to hold outstanding claims once more in 2021 with Diego Du Charmil. This is a big drop in grade for the gelding, back in a handicap having held his own in graded company so far this season.
Third to Silver Streak and then Sceau Royal to kick off his campaign, he has been given a break to freshen up since a below par run in the Christmas Hurdle. He can run off a mark of 145 back in a handicap with the excellent Angus Cheleda taking off another seven. With conditions in his favour, he can take full advantage of the easier contest.
