57% strike-rate Jockey who’s +£27.75 in 2021 hits Wincanton on Thursday

Wincanton Racecourse

Wincanton are back in action on Thursday as well as Ludlow and Lingfield in the afternoon. The evening action comes from Newcastle as we move ever closer to the superb Clarence House Chase card at Ascot on Saturday.

We will have free horse racing tips for all four cards on Thursday but it’s the first mentioned where we are concentrating here.

There is no jockey in the National Hunt game as hot at present as Joshua Moore. We are three weeks into 2021 and he has had just seven rides this year. Remarkably despite the lack of ammunition, Moore has produced four winners and two seconds from those. Let’s break down the chances of his pair on Thursday which form a 67/1 double.

1.50 Wincanton – Use The Racingtv.com Tracker Handicap Chase

The first of two rides for Joshua Moore comes up on Eragon De Chanay. As with every ride so far in 2021, it comes up for his dad, Gary. The trainer has unsurprisingly also been in flying form of late, ten winners in 2021 over jumps for a level stakes profit of £51.53.

The gelding was able to show his true ability when getting round over course and distance last time out. Hindsight has shown that the winner (who beat him thirteen lengths) was thrown in that day off 138 as a Grade 2 winner subsequently. Two pounds lower will give some help to the Moore runner in a far softer contest.

3.50 Wincanton – Somerset National Handicap Chase

Despite Wincanton not being the stiffest track, three and a quarter miles on soft ground will make this a proper test of stamina. Gleno represents the Moore yard here, a winner of both his races so far this season. Well suited by soft ground and more than capable when things turn into a slog, this should play to his strengths.

Those two wins have come after a wind op which has clearly helped him. Only four pounds higher than his most recent success, he looks to only do what he needs to which may keep him ahead of the assessor for a little while longer.
