This is a Class 3 handicap over 1m 2f, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: Richard Hughes’ GETBACK IN PARIS is going to need rain to arrive in order to take his chance today but he’ll be dangerous if it does. He ran a fine race in defeat to a smart sort last time out and he will be seen to better effect in this grade with a one pound drop in the weights. Toulson looks just the type to continue improving as a 4yo and he’ll give the selection most to think about.
ICKYMASHO – Wasn’t beaten far off a 2lb lower mark at Chelmsford last time out on the All-Weather. She’s kept over the same trip today and connections will be hopeful of another big run from this mare who has two victories to her name already in 2017. This is another career high mark and will obviously require more improvement but there’s every chance she will do that and she’s likely to be popular in the betting here.
INDIRA – Notched up a hat-trick of wins early last season which saw her rise 13lbs in the handicap. She’s been off the track since last summer and returns to action today off a 325-day break with a 2lb higher mark so she’ll need to be fit and ready to score in this contest on her seasonal reappearance. All of her wins have come over further so the drop back in trip is a slight concern and others make more appeal today.
BREDEN – Beaten 1 1/4 lengths off this mark at Windsor earlier this month which was an impressive performance off an 18-month break. He’s been given a month off the track which will have helped him progress and there’s clearly plenty of ability in this lightly-raced 7yo who has had his issues throughout his career. He has the form to get involved here but his chances of success rely on how sound he is at present.
GETBACK IN PARIS – Ran a fine race in defeat to a smart sort at Kempton just 5 days ago in a decent handicap. This is a drop in grade and whilst he looks high enough in the weights, he should be able to get competitive off this mark in this grade for a yard that have a fair 15% strike rate at Windsor. Connections have stated he will only run if enough rain arrives but he’ll be dangerous in this if it does.
ETERNAL – Won a Beverley handicap by a nose earlier this month and that was a clear step forward on what he has achieved to date. He steps up in trip again today which shouldn’t pose any problems for this son of New Approach although he is up a pound in the weights and this tougher grade may leave him with some questions to answer. The yard are in good form of late with a 21% strike rate in the past fortnight and he enters calculations in this.
TOULSON – Beat Tomahawk Kid last time out at Nottingham by a 1 3/4 lengths. He’s been raised 7lbs for that ready success and this will obviously require more off a career high mark although he looks set to have a good 4yo campaign ahead of him having won impressively for his first start of the season earlier this month. He’s worse off at the weights with Ian Williams’ runner today but he’s clearly improving for a yard in form (24% strike rate in the past fortnight).
RED RANNAGH – Without a victory since November 2015 which came in a Dundalk maiden over a mile. He’s steadily fallen through the weights since early last year and he will certainly improve for his seasonal return to action when there was plenty of money around for him. He’ll do better here although this is a step up in grade and he doesn’t have much recent form to his name and others make more appeal today.
TOMAHAWK KID – Weighted to reverse the form with Toulson today following a 1 3/4 length defeat to that rival last time out. Things rarely plan out so easy though and he will need to show more improvement off a 3lb higher mark having had the benefit of a run prior to that race. David Probert takes over in the saddle today and whilst he’s not without a chance, others make a bit more appeal in this.
