2.50pm Ludlow Tips & Betting Preview 21/11/2016

This should be a strongly run Handicap Chase with £11,696 going to the winner in the feature at Ludlow today. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: Evan Williams looks to hold the key in the race with Tornado In Milan having finished runner up on his last three outings and will not mind the forecast soft conditions. That being said he may have to play second fiddle again to stablemate GOING CONCERN, who should come on for his reappearance at Aintree and it is probably a pointer to his chances that jockey Paul Moloney prefers him to his stablemate.

1 Owen Na View – Won a good contest at Worcester back in August over 2m on good ground and won a tad cosily at Wetherby last month getting up to win by a length. Had shown fair form in between those wins, and at Cheltenham on latest start and with less on his plate today has a chance to get back on the winning trail although it won’t be easy against the favourite at his weight. Has tongue tie back on today and would ideally prefer faster ground.

2 Noche De Reyes – Only just got up to win here in March over 1m7f but followed to score nicely again here by 6 lengths from Tornado In Milan on his next run. Filled the runner-up spot 3 times since including last time in a Listed event at Ascot won by Quite by Chance from the Tizzard stable who finished runner up to Sire De Grugy at the weekend. Has an excellent record here but the likely rain could pose a problem.

3 Going Concern – Mixed form last season after posting a career best at Cheltenham last December, finishing 2nd behind the highly rated Pearl Legend from the John Spearing yard. Will have come on for his last run at Aintree and 2lb lower here. Telling that Paul Moloney prefers him to Tornado in Milan and dangerous to rule out from this mark.

4 Tornado In Milan – Had solid form last year with two wins at Taunton at the start of the year over 2m3f on soft ground. Finished runner up twice in the Spring and on seasonal reappearance at Bangor a fortnight ago. Versatile ground wise he will prefer the likely conditions and has a good chance of going close again.

5 Walden Prince – Won four times last season at Southwell, Newcastle, Uttoxeter and Huntingdon showing good resilience to win in each. Form has tailed off since then and struggled at Kempton in a 0-135 on his latest start finishing a laboured 4th of 9. Others look to have a better chance today.

6 Last Shot – Hasn’t won since December 2013, when scoring here by 14 lengths over 2m on Gd/Sft. Muddling form since and only 4th of 6 on comeback run this season after the having the summer off. Unlikely to find the improvement necessary to win today given profile last year and best ignored today.
