Two miles with jockeys yet to get associated with their mounts will take some getting here especially with one or two quite likely to go off at silly fractions over a trip some will not even be too familiar with. Lucy Wadham has decided to allow the lightly raced Noble Silk (10/1 Each Way) to take his chance here and after just the two races so far this season he has more room to improve than most. He meets Sea Of Heaven (see below) on two pounds better terms after his last run when sixth to that rival, but that doesn’t take in to account the awful run he got that day before getting out and staying on to the line. If he is ridden a bit nearer the pace today by Thierry Jarnet then he can get involved in the finish again, and is well worth a bet at his current odds.

As mentioned, Sir Mark Prescott allows course and distance winner Sea Of Heaven (3/1) back to the track after his course and distance win in late July when he won a shade cleverly by half a length off a rating four pounds lower than he has to suffer this afternoon. He could possibly be a step ahead of the handicapper at this stage but at the age of four her may not, and at the odds we are happy to oppose him now.

Serena Grae (16/1) arrives here in good heart for trainer Marcus Tregoning having won at Chester over a mile and three quarters two races ago and finishing second to She Is No Lady at Chelmsford last time out, running on all the way to the line over the same distance. This will be his first try at two miles and it may well bring about the necessary improvement though he has leapt up six pounds for his latest effort and that may yet be enough to negate his chances even with the likeable Oisin Murphy in the saddle.

Trainer Andrew Balding likes to target these races and the consistent Haines (9/1) must have each way chances based on his 25/1 second to Dannyday in the Northumberland Vase last time out in late June. Only beaten a neck over the two miles plus he has had a month off to recover from those efforts and as we know he stays and his stable is in good form, he should be a decent ride for Emma-Jayne Wilson this afternoon even after his three pound rise in the handicap.

Josephine Gordon looks to have a good book of rides and she will be hoping distance winner Saigon City (7/1) can repeat his York heroics here despite only finishing fifth in the Northumberland Plate. He runs off the same mark of 92 here add that looked a much tougher race, and we think he has a good each way chance this afternoon and maybe more.
