Friday night’s feature race at Wolverhampton is a Class 2 Nursery Handicap over the extended mile. Read on for our expert betting tips and runner by runner preview.

Just the six runners go to post but that doesn’t make it any less entertaining, with all six runners holding claims. Plant Pot Power was a good winner of a Kempton nursery when last seen so is respected for the Richard Hannon team. However, the vote goes to COMMANDER COLE for Godolphin who looks the only colt in the field that could be a fair bit better than his current mark. He hacked up by six lengths over seven furlongs at Newcastle last time out, eased down close home, a stunning performance. The hood had the desired effect that day and he is going to be a tough horse to beat here up in trip with Josh Doyle taking off a valuable five pounds.

1 COMMANDER COLE – Two year old Kyllachy colt who could not have been more impressive when routing the field at Newcastle in a maiden last time out. This is a step up in class on handicap debut but he looks a horse with huge potential, dare we say pattern class. Leading claims and could still be very well treated.

2 MASHAM STAR – Lawman colt trained by Mark Johnston who produced a career best performance to win a Class 3 handicap at Doncaster off 87 last time out. Up six pounds for that and makes his tapeta debut but respected if he can take to the surface, the Johnston horses’ are very game.

3 PLANT POT POWER – Another runner making his tapeta debut but showed a real liking for the all weather surface on his first try at Kempton, winning comfortably off a mark of 80. He is up 6 pounds for that and although life will be tougher, he could be progressive.

4 ZYMYRAN – Benefitted from a good strong gallop when landing a brace of handicaps at Yarmouth and Newcastle. They didn’t go a strong enough pace for him at Doncaster last time out so he ran pretty flat and this small field may not guarantee a huge amount of pace. Will be held up for a late patient run in the hands of Jamie Spencer.

5 DRAW SWORDS – Dansili colt who is trained by the mighty John Gosden who cleans up in these races in general. Disappointed on second start at Kempton when 3rd, going off a very well backed 5/6 favourite. Beat a nose here at Wolverhampton last time out and looks sure to be on the premises once more but he could bump into a couple of more progressive types.

6 UPGRADE – Five starts to date, none of which have resulted in victory for the Karl Burke trained inmate. Third over course and distance in a maiden last month and 2nd to the progressive Rashford’s Double at Newcastle last time out. It would be a bit surprising if that form was good enough to win this.
