5.30pm Newmarket tips for Thursday’s Class Three race. A good field headed by multiple winner Bronze Angel will compete for the £9,067 first prize money and £14,000 guaranteed in total prizes. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: The jockey bookings suggest that Wood Ditton winner NIGHT CIRCUS (Each Way) is the number one pick of the Godolphin pair. If that is the case then he looks to have an outstanding each way chance at these prices. He may not have reached the heights once hoped, but is still better than your average handicapper and can make the most of his experience with a win this afternoon.

1 BRONZE ANGEL – Twice the winner of the Cambridgeshire handicap for trainer Marcus Tregoning and fully entitled to have needed it when only eighth at Doncaster on his first run in almost a year. He has won three times now off higher ratings, however his absence must have been for a reason. This looks like a big ask for him for a stable on a lowly 8% strike rate recently.

2 RIGOLETTO – Three wins from just the six starts – all of which came this season – and an eye-catching victory at Chepstow last time out makes him one to consider seriously here. He quickened away after making his own pace for most of that contest and, although up in class and a hefty eight pounds for that, Luca Cumani’s colt is on an upward curve and won’t be far away in the finish.

3 KNIGHT OWL – He did win here over a furlong further on 2000 Guineas day in 2016, but he hasn’t been seen at his peak yet this season, despite a promising return when third to Gurkha Friend at Ripon. His latest seventh at Ascot was acceptable, if not promising. Despite going excuses (he has won on Good to Soft), he still has a bit to find today and needs to bounce back for trainer James Fanshawe.

4 SUN LOVER – A frustrating sort for owners and supporters alike after finishing second in all three races this season at odds of 11/2f, 10/11f, and 3/1f, no doubt much to the bookies delight. He remains on the same rating of 89 here and needs to step up on his last run over a furlong shorter at Chester, but could do better back at the mile.

5 MEDBURN DREAM – Silvestre de Sousa was a little too impressive when winning on Paul Henderson’s colt at Lingfield by an easy nine lengths. The subsequent weight rise of ten pounds seems to have stopped him in his tracks. He has been well beaten in each of his three runs since, but is slowly coming back down the weights. He might run a bit better now under jockey Steve Drowne.

6 INTRUDE – Stuart Williams’s gelding bolted up in a poor looking event at Yarmouth. However, he found a combination of his plenty and a quick return all too much at Haydock when a long way last after being held up at the back of the race and staying there. Rested since to recover, it will be interesting to see how he fares now and he is impossible to rule out confidently on his winning form.

7 THE WARRIOR – One win from 25 starts on grass, but interestingly when Ryan Moore was riding who is reunited with the five-year-old here. The going today will be quicker than the heavy ground he faced in March 2015 and he ran a blinder on the Kempton all-weather when second last time. It is open to debate as to whether he is as effective on the grass these days.

8 REPERCUSSION – A winner in France at Clairefontaine for his past connections, but yet to score in six outings since joining Charlie Fellowes in April this year. Last time out he finished fourth of six at Yarmouth off a pound higher and it does look like he needs to drop a bit further before he will get off the mark in this Country.

9 NIGHT CIRCUS – Despite winning the Wood Ditton here back in April, the son of Invincible Spirit hasn’t gone on to bigger and better things and is winless in four starts since. He didn’t perform poorly at all when a running on third over seven furlongs last time out at Doncaster and should do even better back at the mile. James Doyle takes the ride for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby.

10 REACH HIGH – The second runner in the Godolphin colours and this time with Oisin Murphy in the saddle for trainer Saeed Bin Suroor. Lightly raced with a second on his debut at Doncaster which he followed with a nose win from none other than Harry Angel at Ascot in May 2016. Bred to be better suited by the mile today, his long absence is obviously a major concern. That said, his form stands out if it is taken at face value and if the market speaks in his favour he should be a serious contender.

11 ELTEZAM – Quicker going may be the key to the four-year-old which is surprising for a son of Kodiac. However, he has suffered this summer on softer than ideal surfaces and has the best ground he has encountered for a while at his disposal today. He runs off a rating of 83 here for Amanda Perrett and can’t use that as an excuse, but still seems to be up against it in this line up.

12 VIA SERENDIPITY – Bought by his new connections for 100,000gns, only time will tell if that was a wise investment and he will need to improve on what we have seen recently. Last time out he finished third to Important Mission at Chelmsford on the all-weather over seven furlongs on his first run for Stuart Williams having left Hugo Palmer. However, he will need to improve considerably on that to take a hand here off the same handicap mark.
