Although only four go to post for the fifth race of the day at Yarmouth, this contset still promises to be hugely competitive. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Swiftsure looks a massive danger now dropped in distance, but softer ground is a big concern and preference is for SOLO HUNTER. Martyn Meade has been in flying form of late and this front-runner held on gamely to win at Windsor two starts ago, not suited by how the race was run at Sandown on his latest start. He should be able to dominate this small field from the front under the ever brilliant Josie Gordon and shouldn’t be for the catching today.

1 SOLO HUNTER – Versatile sort for Martyn Meade who won two starts ago at Windsor in May, making all on that occasion and similar tactics would see him being very interesting in this smaller field. Raised three pounds, he was well held on his latest start at Sandown, however the strong pace that day likely didn’t suit and he should be much happier in a race of this nature. Josie Gordon takes over the ride and, with conditions fine, he looks very tough to pass.

2 ROTHERWICK – Rarely runs a bad race for Paul Cole and this consistent sort gained a deserved victory three starts ago at this venue over the 1m 1f distance, keeping on strongly to lead late on. He has run two good races in defeat the last twice, with his latest third at Sandown coming in better company than this. He’s only a pound higher here and a big effort looks on the cards, with softer ground no problem for him.

3 FAITHFUL CREEK – Won four starts ago in a small field handicap at Southwell in February, but that was a lower class than this and he was well held at Epsom when last seen over this distance in April. He now returns from five months off the track and is only one pound lower here, facing some race fit and in-form rivals in this race. Silvestre De Sousa is a great jockey booking, but his other rivals are preferred.

4 SWIFTSURE – Three-year-old son of Dubawi who is owned by The Queen, lightly raced after only seven runners for Sir Michael Stoute. He won three starts ago at Pontefract when making all in very comfortable style, though his latest two efforts have been somewhat disappointing. He can be forgiven his latest start at Glorious Goodwood as that was a very competitive race and he didn’t stay the distance, but softer ground remains an issue and makes him risky.
