4.10pm Newcastle Tips & Betting Preview 24/10/2017

4.10pm Newcastle tips for Tuesday’s Class 4 contest raced over 6f for three year-olds and older. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: It may pay to take a chance on START TIME in this. He missed most of last seasons campaign and he’s been in mixed form since returning to action this season. However, he’s crashing down through the weights and he may be well-treated in this on old form. Sfumato should post a better effort now back down in trip whilst Art Obsession shouldn’t be far away.

1 BAHAMIAN DOLLAR – Has won three times on the turf but still seeks his first win on the All-Weather. He’s been in good form for most of the season recording a couple of victories and he’s back down to his last winning mark. He should give his running today and warrants respect.

2 ART OBSESSION – Drops down the grades here following some moderate efforts in much stronger fields. He’s only a pound above his last winning mark and he’s entitled to go well on a surface that suits having placed here earlier in the year.

3 NEZAR – Narrowly denied victory at Goodwood last time out when a neck second. He’s been raised a couple of pounds for that success which leaves him 6lbs above his last winning mark which is a negative. Others make a bit more appeal today.

4 FLORENCIO – Won a Class 3 handicap on the fibresand earlier in the week and he races with a 6lb penalty here. He has form at Kempton so the surface should suit again and he’s clearly in good heart so he warrants respect. The drop in trip shouldn’t pose an issue.

5 JOHNNY CAVAGIN – Seeks his first win since July 2016 but he’s 3lbs below that mark now and he placed off a mark of 80 earlier in the year. He’s a bit hit and miss on the All-Weather which is a concern and there are more reliable options in the field.

6 TRICKY DICKY – Looks high enough in the weights now having failed to finish better than midfield off a mark of 75 on the turf last time out. He races off a 6lb higher mark than when last seen winning an All-Weather handicap at Southwell and this looks stronger. Opposed.

7 KENNY THE CAPTAIN – C&D winner who remains fairly treated on old form. He’s 6lbs below his last winning mark at this track which came in a stronger race last November and he commands respect here now back into conditions that clearly suit.

8 BOY IN THE BAR – Has failed to place in 5 starts on the All-Weather although he wasn’t disgraced off a 2lb higher mark at Chelmsford last time out. He’s evidently better on the turf but he can’t be discounted here with Josephine Gordon booked to ride again.

9 INEXES – Arrives here on the back of a win in a Heavy ground Pontefract handicap last time out. He’s only 2lbs higher here which is a major positive although he’s yet to win on the All-Weather in 7 starts and others appear better weighted. Best watched.

10 SUMMERGHAND – Posted a solid effort at Kempton last time out to finish second of 11, beaten a head in a decent handicap. He’s 2lbs higher in the weights here which does temper enthusiasm and he may not offer much value in this open field. Best watched.

11 SFUMATO – Bumped into a useful sort on his first start for Iain Jardine but he went backwards next time out at Newbury. The trip may have proved too far for him this day and it’s a positive to see him back at 6f today off a pound lower. Respected.

12 START TIME – Recorded a brace back in October 2015 but he missed most of the 2016 campaign and he’s shown mixed form this year. He’s down another 3lbs in the weights and it may be a matter of time before he bounces right back to form. Market support would be significant.

13 SUMNER BEACH – Won on debut last year and wasn’t seen until May earlier this year. He’s shown mixed form since then but he looked at home at Newcastle last time out over a trip too short and the step up to 6f is an interesting move here. Market support would also be significant for Brian Ellison’s runner.

14 TOMMY G – One win from 18 starts does little to inspire confidence in Jim Goldie’s runner and it’s likely to be the same story again today off what looks to be a prohibitive mark. He’s too inconsistent to recommend and is best watched until tackling weaker handicaps.
