3.45pm Exeter tips for Thursday’s Class 4 race. A field of 11 go to post for the feature race of the day at Exeter on Thursday afternoon. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Barton Rose won in decisive fashion at Uttoxeter when last seen and she’s unlikely to be far away off a seven pound higher mark, however she will struggle to beat MR MEDIC. He is two from four over fences and clearly needed the run when sixth at Worcester on his latest start in September. He’s now dropped in grade and has three pound off his back thanks to the handicapper, so he should be very tough to beat.

1 BARTON ROSE – Arrives here bang in form for Charlie  Longsdon, winning at Uttoxeter easily when last seen. She is now seven pounds higher, but softer ground will suit and she can make a bold bid off top weight under Paul O’Brien.

2 MOORLANDS JACK – Another who returned to form on their latest start, winning at Newton Abbot by 14 lengths. He’s now nine pounds higher, but he isn’t handicapped out of things as he’s won off six pounds higher before. Unlikely to be far away.

3 MR MEDIC – Won his first two chasing starts for Robert Walford, still going well when unseating the rider two starts ago, needing the run on his latest start. He’s now down in grade and has three pounds off his back which should see him very tough to beat here.

4 TRIPLE CHIEF – Course and distance winner who has finished second the last twice, only going down by a neck at Kempton in May. A 150 day absence is of concern and he’s entitled to need it, with others perhaps better handicapped at present.

5 SHEER POETRY – Hasn’t won since May 2016, beaten by a short-head at Worcester back in July which she was very unlucky to lose. That was over hurdles and she was brushed aside on chasing debut by two useful types. This a much easier task, but she couldn’t be relied on.

6 ARQUEBUSIER – Returns from a 215 day absence today, well beaten over both codes on her final starts of last season. She’s only a pound above her last winning mark, however she’s painfully inconsistent and others are more persuasive.

7 SEVEN KINGDOMS – Won two starts ago over course and distance, but off his new mark he was well held at Kempton, behind both Triple Chief and Moorlands Jack. He’s entitled to need this run (pulled up on seasonal debut last season) and he’s best watched.

8 THIRD ACT – Very hard to win with and he’s still a maiden over fences for Colin Tizzard, 20 lengths behind Moorlands Jack when last seen. He had no real excuses that day and, off only two pounds lower, he couldn’t be recommended.

9 IT’S A STEAL – Both his wins came in December 2014 and he’s had plenty of chances since for various yards. He was beaten out of sight on both his starts thus far for Katie Stephens and is best watched once again.

10 STAR TROUPER – Frustrating horse to follow who has only one win to his name and no victories from 18 starts since his debut. His runs over fences so far haven’t been convincing and he appears to be facing another uphill battle.

11 SOME FINISH – Won at Towcester back in April, but he was left clear at the second after his two rivals came down. He now drops markedly in distance and, judging by his previous form, he is going to struggle back up in grade.
