3.15pm Ffos Las Tips & Betting Preview 15/08/2017

Despite only four going to post for the third race of the day at Ffos Las, this Nursery promises to be an interesting race. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Simply Breathless looks a big threat on nursery debut off a fair mark, but another nursery debutant can beat her to the post in AIRSHOW. Rod Millman’s son of Showcasing has finished second on two of his last three starts, including finishing ahead of Liva at Chepstow on his penultimate start. He had excuses on his latest start and further progress is now likely, with a step up to seven furlongs firmly in his favour. His opening mark is more than fair and he can be steered to his first victory by Willie Carson.

1 LIVA – Made it third time lucky when upped to this trip for the first time on his third start, holding on grimly despite perhaps tiring late on. He makes his nursery debut today off a mark of 75 which doesn’t see him badly treated, but the softer ground isn’t guaranteed to suit at this trip and he could be vulnerable at the death if he doesn’t settle early on. Steve Drowne takes the ride and he has to be considered, but he isn’t bulletproof.

2 VENTURA DRAGON – Lightly raced son of Dragon Pulse who hasn’t progressed since a novice victory at Carlisle in May, winning by a nose. He’s run twice since, well beaten at Epsom in the Woodcote Stakes where he was simply outclassed and he failed to catch the eye on nursery debut at Leicester last month, finishing fifth and never troubling the principles. Further progress is now needed off two pounds lower and he’s untried on softer ground, which has to be of concern.

3 AIRSHOW – Has finished second on two of his last three starts, keeping on well on both occasions and even beating Liva on his penultimate start at Chepstow where he was behind Richmond winner Barraquero. He had excuses when last seen at Windsor as he clearly didn’t appreciate the step back in trip and the step up to seven furlongs today will suit him massively. A mark of 71 on nursery debut looks lenient and with Willie Carson taking the ride he can break his maiden at the sixth attempt.

4 SIMPLY BREATHLESS – Built on the promise of her debut to win at Salisbury in novice company back in ready fashion and she was far from disgraced when third in the same company at Sandown three weeks ago. She kept on well throughout and gave the impression that she could do better in time at this trip, with a mark of 70 very fair on her nursery debut. Softer conditions should be no problem and she looks hugely dangerous with Sam Hitchcott taking the ride.
