IN SUMMARY: CHEF D’EQUIPE was a big money purchase from France. The form he showed there wasn’t anything special but from a mark of 122 he wouldn’t need to be a star to despatch of this field, especially given connections faith given the price. Vive Le Roi is an interesting one if he is able to get a soft lead, he is better than he showed on his return to action last time. Fixed Rate has gone up ten pounds for a wide margin win last time, he might not be suited by the ground while Ding Dong may get involved as she so often does here.

CHEF D’EQUIPE – Purchased from France for €130,000 from France, making his debut for strong connections. The form he showed in France wasn’t anything special but given the money paid, he is of huge interest from 122 in a first time hood.

FIXED RATE – Well supported in first time cheekpieces last time, bolting up in a handicap at Fakenham. Has a ten pound hike to cope with here and he failed to progress from his previous win from the same mark as Fakenham. Still a little to prove, especially with cut in the ground.

VIVE LE ROI – Respectable return to action last month given that he had been off for eleven months. A two pound drop for that is handy, with the step back up in trip to suit. Interesting if he can get a soft time of things on the front end.

MR GREY – Raced just twice since the end of January 2015, both times over fences. Certainly well treated on the best of his form but he is fully entitled to need this return to action to blow away the cobwebs.

SEARCHING – Not seen since May 2016 but he has won fresh in the past. Conditions will suit, trying this longer trip for the first time. Has led in the past but likely content to let Vive Le Roi make it given he is on his seasonal debut. Workable mark if not doing too much early on.

ROTHMAN – Regular in the places but not scored for over two years. The hood he usually wears is removed, cheekpieces put on instead. On a workable mark on his best, but the majority of his better form has come over fences.

DING DONG – All three wins over hurdles have come at this track, the latest from three pounds lower at this trip. She won first time up last season, looks to need a little more here to play more than a place role.

KINCORA FORT – Not seen in action since May 2015 when winning at Kempton from this mark. He returns to action therefore from a winnable level, but even still it would take a stunning training performance to have him spot on after more than nine hundred days absent.
