A small field but competitive affair with £6,498 going to the winner. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: HOLLYWOOD ROAD has been running at a good level on the flat and may prove a bit too talented for these, especially with the excellent James Bowen claiming seven pounds. This is a tight heat, however, and Raven’s Tower as well as Cool Macavity should be there at the finish.

1 HOLLYWOOD ROAD – A useful flat performer who hasn’t run over obstacles for 165 days. His flat form is more than respectable and he has won over hurdles twice in four attempts. James Bowen is one of the most exciting apprentices and claims a valuable seven pounds – obvious claims.

2 COOL MACAVITY – Similarly rated to Hollywood Road on the flat, but he is much more experienced and exposed over hurdles. He hasn’t run in this sphere for well over a year, yet he has held his flat form quite well and wouldn’t be without a shout in a race like this.

3 RAVEN’S TOWER – Better known as a chaser these days having contested races such as the Red Rum Handicap at Aintree and is probably a slightly better animal over the bigger obstacles. He might still get involved if fully revved up off a 188 day break.

4 SURF AND TURF – Has run badly on his last two starts over fences, however the handicapper has been reasonably lenient by dropping him seven pounds. He will need to bounce back to get involved though and he is only four from twenty in this discipline.

5 SAILORS WARN – Has just a modest strike rate of 5-44 over hurdles and has not won off a mark this high for a long time. He looked anchored by a seven pound rise for a win at Stratford when attempting to follow up and may struggle here.

6 CASTAFIORE – Was a distance second in a listed juvenile hurdle last season, but she was well held off this mark in her only two attempts in handicap company. She is less exposed than some rivals and has scope for improvement, but will need to do bettre if she is to be involved.
