2.25pm Chepstow tips for Wednesday’s Class 4 race. A field of twelve go to post for this 2m 7f Handicap Chase, for novices only. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: A drop in grade is just what the doctor ordered for CAILLEACH ANNIE, who was far from disgraced when third over course and distance on her latest start. She kept on well and has dropped in the weights once again. She goes well fresh and shouldn’t be for catching here on her seasonal debut. The main danger is Just Joelliott, with Nansaroy another to note.

1 MILLANISI BOY – Lightly raced eight year old who has run only twice over fences, finishing a great second at Newbury back in March off today’s mark. He’s gone well fresh in the past and he’ll love today’s ground, so he has obvious claims.

2 RAMSES DE TEILLE – Has become frustrating to follow for David Pipe, now a seven race maiden who again found one too good at Chepstow on his latest start. He now makes his chasing debut with scope for better over the larger obstacles, but others are preferred for win purposes.

3 NANSAROY – Didn’t hang around over hurdles for Evan Williams and although he’s not been progressive over the larger obstacles, he’s been racing in tougher races than this. He was far from disgraced in Class 2 company on his latest start and a similar display gives him strong each way claims here.

4 CAPOTE – Won two of his three starts over hurdles for Jonjo O’Neill, whose string are in dire form at present (0/43 in the past two weeks). He made his chasing debut over 3m 2f here last month, very tired when falling. This drop in trip will suit but he needs to jump better and others are preferred.

5 GLENFORDE – Second in a Point to Point back in April 2016 but his performances over hurdles have been mixed, very disappointing on his latest start at Chepstow. He should be better suited by fences but he was tailed off when upped to this trip and he has more to prove than most.

6 CRANK EM UP – One win from seven hurdling starts, ending last season on a sour note at Newcastle. He’s capable of better but he’s entitled to need this return to action and others have stronger claims in terms of form.

7 CAP HORNER – Yet to win from eight starts under rules for Seamus Mullins and he didn’t threaten over hurdles, last seen in a well held fifth at Uttoxeter in July. He’s not progressed at all and although he should improve for the step up in trip, he’s best watched on chasing debut.

8 GRAND INTRODUCTION – Another maiden, this time for Fergal O’Brien who was far too inconsistent for comfort over hurdles. That said, he will improve for this switch to the larger obstacles and he’s potentially very well handicapped. He drops in class from his latest run and he’s unlikely to be far away if fully revved up.

9 JUST JOELLIOTT – Fell on chasing debut when held but he did build on that effort when third over the 3m 2f trip here last month. A drop back in distance should suit and he remains with potential over fences, so has to be considered an each way player.

10 CAILLEACH ANNIE – Lightly raced eight year old who has gone well fresh in the past for Jackie Du Plessis, far from disgraced on her latest start when third over course and distance. She drops in the weights and in grade, so she should be tough to stop.

11 SMOKING DIXIE – Cost 7000 Euros as a foal but is yet to show much under rules for Ben Pauling, beaten by over twenty lengths at Exeter when last seen. He may well make a better chaser, but it’s hard to be confident after such poor performances recently.

12 BARON DU PLESSIS – Twelve race maiden for Ian Williams who finished ten lengths behind Just Joeelliott over 3m 2f trip here in October. He’s now two pounds lower but a turnaround with that rival is unlikely and he should miss out on the money.
