2.20pm Worcester Tips & Betting Preview 12/10/2017

A handicap chase for a prize of £4,289. Read on for expert analysis and betting tips.

IN SUMMARYLAMBEAU FIELD had a nice introduction to fences when fourth behind a useful sort and that experience will help him massively on his handicap debut. There are a few interesting ones in opposition, such as the progressive Get Ready Freddy.

1 MERCIAN KING – Ran on gamely to win a four runner event at Fontwell two starts ago, but was well beaten either side of that performance. His current mark doesn’t look a gift, but his form would entitle him to be there or thereabout if on a going day.

2 KING ALFONSO – Has run two nice races on the bounce at this course and if continuing in that form, he would have a say here. He doesn’t win all that often, but he has done well since switching to this stable in July and gets on well with Tom Scudamore.

3 MAXIMUS MARIDIUS – Has been placed on his last three starts, however there is a growing question over the commitment he has to winning. He’s one who is likely to come there swinging two out and has every right to on the form book, but may not find for pressure; a risky betting proposition.

4 GET READY FREDDY – Has progressed nicely for Dan Skelton and has won two of his four starts for the stable. Overall he has risen two stone in the handicap, but it isn’t out of the question that there is more improvement left in him after winning last time and he is interesting.

5 MR KIT CAT – Ran his best race for a while when fourth of five last time out, but he was still beaten seven lengths and was a decent way behind King Alfonso who filled the third spot that day. He has a bit to find on that piece of form and others make more appeal.

6 CHESTNUT BEN – Was beaten a very long way when last of six on his last racecourse appearance 94 days ago, but that was a much more difficult race than this. He deserves some respect now dropped down in class.

7 THE YANK – A case can be made for this one looking quite well handicapped. That said, he has turned in some very poor efforts as of late and it’s hard to know whether he still retains the ability that saw him win off a mark eight pounds higher than his current one back in April this year. Risky.

8 LAMBEAU FIELD – Had no real chance on his chasing debut when outclassed by Mad Jack Mytton, but there was promise in his jumping that day and the experience will have done him good. He is a much more solid proposition now in handicap company and should go well.
