1.55pm Leicester tips for Monday’s race. A decent Class Two mile plus handicap on good to soft going awaits the ten declared here with just nine pounds covering them from top to bottom. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: One look at the weights here shows that JUST HISS (Each Way) has a great chance on these new terms and with Rachel Richardson taking a useful three pounds off his back. Still only a four-year-old he may well have room for further improvement and looks a spot of value in a competitive race.  

1 LONDON PROTOCOL – Cleverly campaigned by Karl Burke and picked up a very nice prize of £28,000 plus last time out when sent over to France for a Chantilly victory. He made all the running that day to win by a length and three-quarters but has to suffer an added eight pounds here on his first UK run since July and he will need to improve again off his new rating. 

2 BRAVERY – Possibly a little unlucky to run into an in-form Zabeel Prince at York last time when a good if well-beaten second in a similar contest. Held up as is normal for the son of Galileo, the winner had too many gears that day but doesn’t line up here, suggesting the O’Meara stable may be on a realistic comeback mission. He has been put up two pounds which doesn’t help but he won the Lincoln off of three pounds higher in April and is hard to rule out again.

3 CHATEZ – The super three-length winner of the Spring Mile at Doncaster when last seen, sprinting clear to beat Buckstay pretty comfortably, but that was in March 2015 and he hasn’t been seen since. He obviously has his issues for trainer Alan King but connections have been remarkably patient and he has to be an interesting runner well worth watching though it will be some training performance to produce him ready to win after such a long lay-off.

4 BRONZE ANGEL – His eight wins from forty-three starts include two Cambridgeshire handicaps at Newmarket but he won’t be getting any better at the age of eight, and hasn’t won yet this season after three starts. Last time out he ran on into third at Kempton after his second consecutive tardy start, and if he does that again then apprentice Tyler Saunders may find it too much to catch up in this field.

5 KING’S PAVILION – Put up a punitive six pounds after winning a Class Three handicap at Carlisle in September but the King’s Best gelding has run well in both races since with a half-length second at Chester and a length fourth at Haydock last time out. All his very best form seems to be on a far softer surface than he faces here which could be his undoing but he is ultra-consistent lately and won’t be too far away at the finish.

6 HOME CUMMINS – A long run of fourteen races without a win now stretching back to early July 2016 but plenty of places have seen her handicap rating remain on the high side. Her latest win was off of 87 yet she still runs off higher here (92) after a good third back at York earlier this month and as she seems to run better there than elsewhere, a place may be the best connections can realistically hope for today.

7 GURKHA FRIEND – One win from two starts here when beating the useful Growl back in 2015, but beaten a long way (ten lengths) last time out at Musselburgh in a lesser race over seven furlongs. Better over this trip or further and runs off two pounds lower but needs to bounce back here and others do appeal a lot more.

8 FIRE BRIGADE – Three wins already this season and just the nine starts so a 33% strike rate, and he was anything but disgraced when third to Addeybb in the Silver Cambridgeshire beaten just the half-length at the line when keeping on at the one pace. He has been put up another four pounds for that run by the handicapper and needs a new career best to take a hand here, but he is only three and may yet have even more to offer.

9 JUST HISS – Finished a length behind Bravery when running on a little too late at York and meets that rival on two pounds better terms making the pair of them closely matched on paper. Tim Easterby’s gelding could go well if Rachel Richardson can keep him a little bit nearer to the early pace today which will surely be the plan, and looks to have every chance at a decent price this afternoon.

10 MAYZOUN – All out to win by a nose in a Class three event at Yarmouth last time out and has to carry an added three pounds here in this much tougher looking contest. Hugo Palmer is only ticking over with a 7% strike rate in the last two weeks and a win here would be a career best by some margin for the gelded son of Mayson under jockey Josephine Gordon.
