Wesley Ward has won the Queen Mary four times and has a 14-1 shot on Wednesday 🗽

Wesley Ward Royal Ascot

US trainer Wesley Ward is regular raider at Royal Ascot with a total of 12 winners at Flat racing’s most prestigious meeting. He has won the Queen Mary Stakes four times during his career (in 2009, 2015, 2016 and 2020) and he’s set to try for winner number five on Wednesday.

Day 2 of Royal Ascot kicks off with the Group 2 event for two-year-old fillies and his runner is currently available at 14-1. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Bundchen (12-1, bet365) was just nabbed on the line in a maiden over an extended 4f at Keeneland on her debut back in April. Ward’s filly hasn’t been seen since and he must think a lot of her to send her over for this highly competitive race. Significant improvement will be needed if she’s to feature but there’s enough market support to suggest that it could be forthcoming.

Her dam was an unraced sister a Grade 1 winner over 1m2f in the States and this indicates that she may want further in time. Wesley Ward’s last two runners in this race have finished fourth and second, so he deserves another win. It’s highly unlikely that the experienced trainer with an excellent record would send over a no-hoper. His record in the race is impossible to ignore and we’re likely to see a stronger filly on the day.
