Wednesday’s angles: Follow Buick at Yarmouth and a Notable debutant at Fairyhouse

We have five meetings to look forward to across the day on Wednesday and William Buick is the jockey to follow at Yarmouth this season. Aidan O’Brien has a well bred debutant making his debut at Fairyhouse in Ireland and the horse in question is one for the notebook. Catterick has an infamous pace bias so here are some confirmed front-runners to follow. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Ballydoyle debutant alert

Aidan O’Brien is unleashing a smartly bred two-year-old at Fairyhouse on Wednesday and the horse in question is set to be ridden by Wayne Lordan. City Of Gold is by the late great Wootton Bassett and out of French Listed race winner Shamtee, who is distantly related to 2000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia.

Buick is the man to beat at Yarmouth

William Buick has a 57 per cent strike-rate at Yarmouth so far this season, with four winners from just seven rides, and he’s got another three chances to add to his tally on Wednesday.

Allegrino represents Andrew Balding in the opening race and she wasn’t disgraced when third over this trip at Salisbury last time out. She remains lightly raced in handicaps and the best is yet to come.

Holi Scarlett took a big step forward to win on handicap debut at Nottingham last week and a 6lb penalty might not be enough to prevent her from following up.

Hollywell Stream has finished second by a neck in two of her three starts thus far and a similar effort to her most recent display would surely put her in the mix once again.

Catterick front-runners

There’s a pronounced pace bias at Catterick and it’s hard for horses to win from the back so prominent racers tend to have a significant advantage here.

Classy Clarets made virtually all the running when winning narrowly at Musselburgh last time out and aggressive tactics could pay dividends once again, despite a 3lb rise in the weights.

Bellatina only just failed to win from the front at Beverley on debut and the finishing straight at Catterick places much more emphasis on speed. Second again at Hamilton last time out, the daughter of Belardo could go well on handicap debut here.

Beyond The Bar was ridden aggressively when winning a Redcar novice by three lengths last term and we haven’t seen the best of him in handicap company just yet, so progress can’t be ruled out.
