‘Underestimate him at your peril’ – 25-1, 20-1 and 16-1 ITV Outsiders on Saturday 📺

Kelso Racecourse

There’s another competitive day of racing on Saturday. The ITV cameras will be broadcasting live from Kelso and Newbury, with seven races to be shown on terrestrial television. There are plenty of runners which create some interesting each-way opportunities. With this in mind, we’ve selected three outsiders that could outrun their substantial prices. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 Kelso

Hungry Tiger (25-1, bet365) was only beaten by a short head, when finishing second over 2m6f at Cartmel in June. That effort came off a mark of 97 and he’s currently rated 1lb lower than that. On this evidence, he has to have a solid each-way chance here. He has had an interrupted autumn and winter campaign, since his summer break and has only ran twice since. With this in mind, we can perhaps expect him to improve for his latest run and the 2lb drop in the weights can only help.

2.40 Newbury

Great Snow (16-1, William Hill) has an excellent profile for this sort of test. It’s a very competitive race and Neil Mulholland’s charge could well be ahead of the handicapper. She has a progressive profile, having improved with each of her three starts over hurdles. Shedding her maiden tag at the third time of asking, this mare got off the mark over three miles at Ludlow last time out. Further improvement is expected here and she should appreciate the switch to handicaps. This opening mark of 113 looks very appealing.

3.35 Kelso

Bavington Bob (20-1, Paddy Power) ran up an impressive sequence of four consecutive victories last season. things haven’t quite gone to plan for him this season but he is sliding down the weights. You need to forgive two very below-par recent efforts, having pulled up the last twice. Underestimate him at your peril though, as he’s a talented horse on his day. His last win came here off a mark of 130 back in April. That was an impressive win by nine lengths and he’s currently rated just 3lb higher. He looks dangerously well-handicapped if he can return to form here.
