‘Underestimate her at your peril’ – 50/1 ante-post tip for the 1000 Guineas

Billesdon Brook wins the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket

The 1000 and 2000 Guineas are the first two classics of the season and they are set to take place at Newmarket in May. Our ante-post tip for the 2000 Guineas was published last week and it’s the turn of the fillies in the 1000 Guineas this time around.

Aidan O’Brien has ante-post favourite Ylang Ylang amongst many other potential candidates but he has one that is currently available at 50/1 which has been massively overlooked.

Brilliant

This three-year-old is a daughter of Gleneagles, who coincidently won the 2000 Guineas for Aidan O’Brien back in 2015. She was a busy juvenile, racing nine times, and was beaten by less than a length when third in a Group 3 at the Curragh in September.

O’Brien’s filly took a massive step forward when winning a Group 3 over a mile at Cork last month. It’s very tough for three-year-olds to take on older horses at this stage of the season. The ground was also horrible but she showed a terrific attitude to come out on top.

That performance appears to have gone under the radar and you underestimate her at your peril. Most of O’Brien’s early season runners have needed the run badly so it was particularly impressive from her. You can almost guarantee that she’ll improve significantly for the run and will be primed for the big day.

Half-sister to four-time Group 1-winner Alcohol Free, she certainly has the pedigree to come out on top here. She may be vulnerable to something with a little more class but this is a ridiculous price.
