Unbeaten in 13 races combined: Sunday’s 224-1 stats treble

Hamilton Racecourse

All eyes will be on Newmarket for the 1,000 Guineas on Sunday but there are more interesting runners to be found elsewhere. We have dug out a stats treble that includes one on ITV Racing that have an incredible unbeaten run combined. As well as Newmarket, there is racing at Salisbury, Hamilton and Sligo during the afternoon for our free horse racing tips.

2.40 Hamilton – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Buttonhook Handicap

There have been few handicappers as progressive as Ben Lilly in the last nine months. He is now forty pounds higher than when his winning run began but the most interesting aspect is his relationship with jockey Kevin Stott.

In 15 career starts, he is a perfect 7/7 when Stott has taken the ride and 0/8 when anyone else has been in the plate. It was starting to look as if the handicapper had caught up with him but reunited with Stott the last twice, the winning form has returned.

4.20 Salisbury – AJN Steelstock “Kentford Newmarket” Handicap

Ralph Smith is not a trainer who has not had many winners in recent years but he has landed this Salisbury handicap in 2014, 2015 and 2016 for a perfect 3/3 record in the last decade with his runners. Highly Approved makes her debut for the yard in this contest.

She was a winner from this mark at Leopardstown last summer on a sound surface, placed from ten pounds higher in her pomp. The move to a new yard has the potential to have freshened her up a bit and this race is an interesting target.

4.55 Hamilton – Follow @MansionBet Maiden Stakes

David O’Meara has sent three runners to this race in the last decade, all three have won! In 2021 he is running Estad who was fourth on his debut at Catterick. He shaped with plenty of promise there, those with experience sprinting away late on off a steady pace.

There should be more to come after that, shaping as if he needed the education there. He has a smart southern raider to beat but up in trip looks a plus and it’s interesting that he is run in this race given his trainer’s record.
