Traveller alert: Shark Hanlon sends two on a 786-mile round-trip to Huntingdon 🦈🦈

Shark Hanlon doesn’t come over to Britain as often as some, with just 15 runners over here so far this season. It’s even rarer that he sends runners to Huntingdon with just six runners there throughout his training career. Of these six runners, two have won which gives him a 33 per cent strike-rate at the Cambridgeshire track. There’s potential significance in the fact that he sends two runners on the 786-mile round-trip there on Tuesday. These two runners combine into a tantalising 47-1 double. 2.50 Huntingdon

Dalileo (13-2, William Hill) doesn’t have the best of completion records in his last couple of starts. He pulled up at Galway over hurdles last time and fell at Kilbeggan the time before. His last win came at Perth over a year ago where he raced off 1lb higher than today’s mark of 103. On that form he should have a solid chance as long as the 3m1f trip is suitable. Perhaps he is a little unfortunate to face the front two in the market in a race of this level and may have been shorter had that not been the case. That being said, he is well handicapped so a return to the winners’ enclosure certainly isn’t out of the question. Sean Bowen takes the ride and there are few riding better than him so far this season.

3.25 Huntingdon

A Mere Bagatelle (11-2, William Hill) won at Cartmel over hurdles in June over 2m1f. That was off a mark of 94 and his chase mark is 6lb higher here. Much more consistent in three runs in Britain so the return to these shores is a huge plus. He’s also relatively unexposed at this 2m4f trip despite his attempt at it in September 2021 not going to plan. Ran better over 2m3f at Downpatrick in August which inspires hope for a strong performance here.
