Trainer Marcus Tregoning has had a few winners of late and it is good to see the yard in decent form. He has a surprisingly good record at Brighton Racecourse this year however, and will send just one horse to the southern coastal track on Thursday.
Tregoning has sent six runners to Brighton in 2022 and four of them have won. Even though the sample size is relatively small, it is a formidable record and it looks like the horse he is sending there on Thursday will have every chance too.
It must be a real sign of intent that connections of Dumfries have booked top 3lb claimer and up and coming star Harry Davies to ride their horse. Davies will come up just short in the apprentice jockeys’ title race but he has had a stellar season.
This son of Cityscape was sent off huge odds on debut when fourth at Ffos Las over the extended 7f but he ran a very eyecatching race and looks sure to improve on that effort now stepping up to about a mile.
It is hard to know what sort of opposition he will face as pretty much everything in the field is either unraced or completely unexposed, but it will be a surprise if he doesn’t come on bundles from his debut run as the market was completely against him on the day.
Marcus Tregoning isn’t a name you’d associate with Brighton when it comes to prolific strike rates, but he is up there at present. Best of luck if you have a go, and always bet responsibly.
