Down Royal Delight

If you’re wanting profit at Down Royal, then Gavin Cromwell is the man to follow. The County Meath based trainer has sent 53 runners to the venue in the past five seasons, with ten returning winners. That equates to a very smart profit of £44.15 to level stakes and a 19% strike-rate!

He has just one runner at the venue on Friday, with that being the lightly-raced LEVER DU SOLEIL. Having just five starts over fences thus far, she’s a potential improver in this sphere.

Three of those chasing runs came this summer, finishing a very promising second to A Wave Of The Sea at Kilbeggan three starts ago. She makes her handicap debut over fences today and sits on a dangerous mark based on her hurdling form.

She was placed off a two-pound higher rating last summer over the smaller obstacles and she’s certainly improved since that effort. A return to the two-mile distance can only help matters and she has her ideal conditions once more. She’ll relish a strongly run two miles in a bigger field, with many of her victories coming after a strong late surge.

Her sole course experience comes from a run over hurdles in August 2018, where she finished third behind a pair of very useful rivals. That will stand her in good stead, however, and off this tempting mark on her opening chasing handicap, there’s a lot to like about her chances.
