Trainer with 32% strike-rate at Southwell this year has sole runner on Tuesday 🐎

Southwell Racecourse

Roy Bowring has always been known as a Southwell Racecourse specialist down through the years. He has only had 28 runners at the track in 2022, but nine of them have won. That is a very healthy 32 per cent strike rate and it is clear that he doesn’t go there to just make up the numbers. It has also returned a level stakes profit of £44.62 this year.

Bowring sends just one horse to Southwell on Tuesday and that could well be a tip in itself. Let’s take a look at this horse in more detail and you can find our free horse racing tips on the website now.

2.13 Southwell

Sporting the very familiar green and purple Bowring silks, Hiya Maite is the horse in question, running in the 0-68 handicap run over just shy of five furlongs. This four year old son of Heeraat has finished third twice at the track from his two visits to Southwell, but he showed plenty of ability here four days ago and has to be of interest.

Backed into favourite here on Friday, Hiya Maite finished third behind his stablemate Jeans Mate on the day, but he was up with the pace throughout and probably did too much too soon. He arrived to Southwell off the back of a win at Newcastle in November, and if he is given a slightly more patient ride on Tuesday, he could be a tough horse to crack.

The handicapper keeps him off a mark of 70 and he drops down in class here, so he has an obvious chance on paper. Best of luck if you have a play.
