Thursday ITV Outsiders: Liam is back with 22-1, 18-1 and 16-1 Doncaster tips 📺

Kew Gardens win the 2018 St Leger under Ryan Moore

It’s been a good few weeks for our outsiders articles with plenty of big-priced winners and placed efforts. Liam Bramall is looking to continue that form with three more selections on Thursday. There’s a super-competitive card on Day 2 of Doncaster‘s St Leger meeting which provides plenty of opportunity to find some value. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.00 Doncaster

True Statesman (22-1, William Hill) is a better horse than he showed when a disappointing favourite at Goodwood last time. Having sweated up and over-raced throughout it’s unsurprising that he didn’t perform. If you can forgive that effort and return to his previous start, he’s of serious interest here. He effortlessly dispatched two subsequent winners at Chester and looked like a very smart horse in the process. A return to the professional True Statesman we saw at Chester would make him dangerous.

3.10 Doncaster

River Of Stars (16-1, bet365) is a nice, progressive filly who is being stepped up gradually. Very lightly raced, she’s had just five career starts so far and is improving with every run. Ralph Beckett’s filly has won her last two, including a Listed race at Chester last time. She comfortably beat a German Group 2 winner who was well backed for the race. This seems like the next logical step and she can continue on an upward trajectory.

3.45 Doncaster

Spangled Mac (18-1, Paddy Power) was probably shocked by the step up in grade in a valuable York handicap last time. That race was much hotter than the Shergar Cup race which he finished second in. Hopefully he would have learnt from that experience and going back up to 7f may prevent him from being run off his feet in this grade. Has been flying up the handicap but is still lightly raced and there could be more to come still.
