Three horses with perfect records on heavy ground to look out for at Doncaster 🔎

It’s great to see that Doncaster’s meeting on Saturday has passed its inspection as it’s a good card that would have been disappointing to lose. That does mean that the ground at Doncaster is heavy and will take some getting through. With this in mind, we’ve picked out three runners which have all won their sole start on heavy ground. Ground is always a key factor and these three horses could have a significant advantage. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing. We also have a 36-1 accumulator live on our site which covers the three ITV races.

3.20 Doncaster

Desperate Hero (4-1, Paddy Power) has won two of his last three starts and is looking progressive. He was a comfortable winner on heavy ground at Nottingham last time out and the handicapper has put him up 5lb as a result. This three-year-old may not be fully exposed as of yet and further improvement should not be written off.

4.25 Doncaster

Oso Rapido (9-1, Paddy Power) won on heavy ground at Catterick last time out and is only on a 3lb higher mark here. Returning to 7f here, his two most recent efforts over this trip both resulted in narrow seconds. It was a career-best effort last time so more is required here but he should cope with the surface better than most.

5.28 Doncaster

Bobby Shaft (9-1, Paddy Power) would have needed the run badly at Newcastle back in May as it was his first start for 913 days. He’s been given plenty of time to get over that and we can expect better here. John Wainwright’s charge won a division of this race back in 2020 and the ground was also heavy that day. This is surely a positive omen and he’s racing off a 4lb lower mark this time.
