Hopefully Sandown Racecourse gets the go ahead on Friday and if it does we are in for a treat. You can check out our free horse racing tips for Friday on the website so make sure you take a peek. We are guaranteed testing conditions at Sandown and with that in mind, we have three horses below who should relish the ground. Sandown is a stiff track as it is so it should be a real test.
In the opening juvenile hurdle over two miles, it could pay to side with Jane Williams’ Castelfort, in what looks like a winnable opportunity. The gelding was heavily supported when only finding Balboa too good on debut on heavy at Chepstow in October, running on late in the day and well clear of the remainder. This isn’t a strong race and he should prove too good.
Dan Skelton’s Deafening Silence bolted up on soft ground at Exeter last month and he is open to plenty of improvement, although he will need to find it here at Grade 2 level. That was his first run in over a year so we surely haven’t seen the bottom of him yet, and in an open race at least we know he handles the ground.
Magical King hasn’t won in two career starts but he showed enough to suggest he could be well treated off his opening mark of 118 for trainer Stuart Edmunds. The top weight was second to a decent yardstick on heavy ground in a novice hurdle at Aintree when last seen, pulling well clear of the rest.
