Three horses who should relish heavy ground at Hexham form 256-1 accumulator 🌧️ ☔

Hexham

The going at Hexham is currently heavy and although the track is in fantastic condition at present, it is going to be a slog for many horses there on Wednesday. With that in mind, it is important to weed out horses who have good form in the mud. We have picked out three horses who ought to appreciate the conditions on the day and they combine to form a 256-1 accumulator.

12.20 Hexham

Trainer Russell Ross is 0/45 in his career so that is a huge negative but this is the first time that he has acquired the services of Brian Hughes which is interesting. He will ride the 10-year-old Tintern Theatre, who is rated way higher over fences so looks extremely well treated over hurdles on his return, and enjoys the mud. The 10-year-old wasn’t beaten all that far when third in a selling hurdle at Taunton on what was his final start for Nigel Twiston-Davies back in March.

12.50 Hexham

Cudgel has form figures that read 521112 on heavy ground so there is no doubting his credentials when the mud is flying and he ought to be favourite for this race really. All of his three career wins have also come at this venue and although he has a 223 day absence to overcome, he goes well fresh. He ticks nearly all the boxes on his return to action and it would be no surprise to see him go off a well backed hotpot.

1.50 Hexham

Without Conviction was placed in two heavy ground bumpers and still has very low mileage on the clock. The six-year-old mare looks poised to strike for the in-form Lucinda Russell yard. She was third here over 2m last month off 1lb higher, doing best work at the finish so the step up in trip will massively suit.
