It’s been a wet few months in this area of the world, especially in Ireland. It certainly seems like ground conditions are going to be pretty testing for Fairyhouse‘s Irish Grand National on Easter Monday. Hartur D’arc

Gavin Cromwell’s seven-year-old is certainly progressive and has won his last two starts. He’s had just four starts over fences so far, which is a potential negative in a race like this. Having said that, he’s currently unbeaten in two starts on heavy ground. A good winner of the Leinster National last time out, that experience will serve this lightly raced chaser well and he’s entitled to run a big race.

Senior Chief

This horse is our ante-post tip for the race and the testing ground will certainly be in his favour. Also unbeaten in two starts on heavy ground, Henry de Bromhead’s novice chaser will cut through the mud whilst others get stuck in it. He’s thoroughly unexposed and the best is almost definitely yet to come.

Where It All Began

Gordon Elliott’s gelding ran a fair race in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham last time out and the distance he was beaten by is probably an unfair reflection of the performance. The eight-year-old was inconvenienced by a faller two out and lost some vital momentum. Having won twice and placed five times in six starts on heavy ground, he’ll want conditions to be as testing as possible.
