Three heavy ground winners form 153-1 treble at Windsor on Monday 🌧️

Windsor Racecourse

The ground is set to be very testing at Windsor on Monday and the current going description is heavy. Flat horses aren’t usually bred for ground that testing so it takes a certain type of horse to perform on it. There are only three runners across the entire meeting which have previously won on heavy ground so we’ve combined them into a 153-1 treble. These three horses are equipped to cope well with the underfoot conditions. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.09 Windsor

Firenze Rosa (12-1, William Hill) has won twice and finished second or third a further six times on soft ground. This includes a solid second on her reappearance run here over 6f last time out. The winner was very impressive but she was clear of the second that day. Her win on heavy ground did come five years ago but that combined with her form on soft  going should give her an advantage here.

3.19 Windsor

Sparks Fly (6-5, bet365) did it in good style over course and distance last time out. That victory provides her with a 100 per cent record on heavy ground, as it was her first attempt on turf. There should be plenty more to come from this horse on the grass and the filly’s 6lb penalty is unlikely to stop her. Rossa Ryan takes the ride for David Loughnane and another win could be on the cards.

5.04 Windsor

Chagall (15-4, Paddy Power) has had a busy winter on the all-weather and he has maintained his recent form well. Returning to the grass has suited him and he has finished a close second over this trip at Bath on his penultimate start and over a mile at Yarmouth last time out. He was a winner on heavy ground at Cork for Edward Lynam back in 2020 and it’s likely that he’ll cope with these conditions much better than most.
